Our program is defined as constantly varied functional movement performed at a high intensity. Functional movements are those that mimic day-to-day motor patterns, for example siting and standing, pushing and pulling, throwing, picking things up from the ground, etc. Our programming is designed as a general physical preparedness program, which means our goal is that our members be prepared for anything that could happen in life physically, whether that be a worst case scenario situation or an athletic challenge. That is why our programming is constantly varied. So when you come into the box, we are doing something different everyday. Whether it be through weightlifting, gymnastics, or what one would think of as typical cardio, our mission is for each person to experience an overall broad, general, inclusive fitness. To do this we focus on training ten general physical skills: flexibility, strength, stamina, endurance, speed, power, balance, coordination, agility, and accuracy. We believe that if a person is competent in all of the ten general skills, then he or she is fit. Furthermore, Our exercises is infinitely scaleable. We use the same routines for the elderly as we do for Division I college athletes; we just scale load and intensity. We believe that the needs of Olympic athletes differ by degree, not kind.
So how do we do all of this at our Box at Ruston? Our hope at Ruston is that you could become a part of a community, something that is so much bigger than getting a good workout. We want you to feel a part of our community full of like-minded, positive people who want to improve their lives. We offer group classes where many of these connections are made. You get to know the coaches in your class, as well as the other people you are sweating along side. Furthermore, we have community events, such as FitFriday and BBQs on holidays that allow our members and their families to really hang out and get to know each other. We also hold seminars once every two months, and offer friends and family days from time to time. We love our members, and we love what we do. We are in the business of making people better.
